Replacing the image drum

  1. Pull the front cover open lever (blue) to open the front cover.

  2. Pull the L1 lever towards you until the red triangle mark on the L1 lever is aligned with the red triangle mark inside the machine.

    • If the two red triangle marks are not aligned correctly, you cannot proceed to the procedure of replacing the image drum.

  3. Pull the L2 lever and lift the output tray to the stop position.

    • The image drum basket cannot be pulled out unless the output tray is fully open.

  4. Hold the L3 handle and pull out the image drum basket until it stops.

    Doing so may cause burns.

    Do not touch the fuser unit because it is hot.

  5. Check the image drum to be replaced by the label color.

  6. Remove the image drum of the color to be replaced.

    • Because image drums (green parts) can easily get damaged, handle with adequate care.
    • Do not expose the image drum to direct sunlight or strong light (About 1,500 lux or above). Do not leave it uncovered for more than 5 minutes even under room lighting.

    • The image drum is not fixed in the main unit. You can just lift to remove it.

  7. Take the new image drum of the color to be replaced out of its box.

  8. Take out the desiccant of the new image drum.

  9. Install the new image drum in this machine by holding it with the color label on the right.

    • Because image drums (green parts) can easily get damaged, handle with adequate care.
    • Do not expose the image drum to direct sunlight or strong light (About 1,500 lux or above). Do not leave it uncovered for more than 5 minutes even under room lighting.

  10. Hold the L3 handle and push the image drum basket all the way in.

    • If the image drum is not installed correctly, the image drum basket cannot be pushed all the way in.
    • The output tray cannot be closed unless the image drum basket is pushed all the way in.

  11. Close the output tray, and push both sides down from top.

  12. Press the L1 lever all the way in.

    • The front cover cannot be closed unless all the image drums of the four colors are installed.

  13. Close the front cover firmly with both hands.


  • Please recycle the used image drum.
