Color matching in the printer driver

Color matching is to manage and adjust colors of print data to maintain the consistency between input and output devices.

This section explains color matching in the printer driver.

Settings
Description
AutomaticColor matching shall be done depending on the specific document. In general, use this setting.
Office ColorSelect it if you print a business document by using the word processing software, spreadsheet software, and presentation software. The print data of RGB color space is color matched for CMYK color space of this machine.
Graphic ProSelect it if you use the software for DTP. You can specify a simulation when printing by a CMYK output device.
No Color MatchingSelect it if you match the color from an application.

For macOS, you can also use the [ColorSync] function for color matching.

  • To manage CMYK color data, use the Graphics Pro function.
  • The CMYK Link Profile cannot be specified with the Windows PCL printer driver.


For Windows PCL printer driver
  1. Open the file to be printed.
  2. Select [Print] from the [File] menu.
  3. Click [Preferences].
  4. Select [Color] in [Color Setting] of the [Setup] tab.
  5. Click [Detail].
  6. Select the item you want to set, and click [OK].
  7. Specify other settings as necessary, and click [OK].
  8. Click [Print] in the [Print] screen.


For Windows PS printer driver
  1. Open the file to be printed.
  2. Select [Print] from the [File] menu.
  3. Click [Preferences].
  4. Select the [Color] tab.
  5. Select the item you want to set, and click [OK].
  6. Specify other settings as necessary, and click [OK].
  7. Click [Print] in the [Print] screen.


For macOS
  1. Open the file to be printed.
  2. Select [Print] from the [File] menu.
  3. Select the [Color] panel.
  4. Select the item you want to set in [Color].
  5. Specify other settings as necessary, and click [Print].

    • If there is no detail settings displayed in the [Print] screen, click [Show Details] at the bottom of the screen.
