Environment
The OKI Group has designated products, services, and solutions that contribute to solving social problems related to the environment, such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, resource recycling, and pollution prevention, as "OKI Eco Solutions," in addition to the environmental considerations of the hardware products themselves, which are the typical of "OKI Eco Products," and is working to expand the creation of these products.
The OKI Group defines "OKI Products Contributing to the Environment" as follows:
Decarbonization, resource saving/waste reduction, chemicals management/pollution prevention, etc.
Direct contribution from using the product. Indirect contribution from streamlined operations through the use of the product is also acceptable.
Direct/Indirect | Product type | Contribution Details | |
---|---|---|---|
Direct | Direct contribution from the use of the product | Energy-saving products, building energy management systems | Energy saving |
Disaster Preparedness Information System "DPS Core" | Disaster preparedness and mitigation, including extreme weather events | ||
Indirect | Indirect contribution through means such as results of improved business efficiency in the use of the product | ITS service "LocoMobi®2.0" | Functions for collecting and analyzing road information → Alleviating traffic congestion → Reducing fuel consumption → Promoting decarbonization |

All of the research and development activities of the OKI Group are carried out with a strong awareness of our contribution to the environment.Among them, the ones that are particularly easy to understand in relation to the environment are listed in the table below.
Themes | Direct/Indirect | Outline |
---|---|---|
Next-generation control board | Direct | By developing a next-generation common control board that incorporates AI functionality with power-saving ASICs and high-efficiency power circuits, we reduce power consumption and apply it to various hardware. This contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions by significantly lowering both operating and standby power consumption. |
Power supply efficiency and miniaturization technology | Direct | By adopting GaN (gallium nitride), we enhance the efficiency of switching power supplies, thereby reducing operating power. This also enables miniaturization, improving design flexibility in terms of the shape and size of devices. It contributes to both power savings and resource conservation in hardware. |
Use of traffic probe data (analysis and prediction) | Indirect | A technology for analyzing traffic probe data (driving history) to predict congestion occurrences and travel times. This provides information for reducing congestion and other purposes based on traffic flow control plans, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions. |
Roadside infrastructure wireless technology for autonomous driving | Indirect | A communication technology and sensing technology, such as millimeter-wave radar, provide merging vehicles with information about the position, speed, and length of vehicles on the mainline at highway merging points. This enables merging vehicles to safely and smoothly join the mainline, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions by mitigating energy consumption associated with deceleration and congestion. |
Multi-source charge/discharge module | Direct | A multi-source charge and discharge module compatible with solar, thermal, and wind energy. It supports various power generation sources, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions. |
Anomaly detection, early warning detection | Indirect | It can accommodate the diversity and characteristics of various time-series data, including sound and vibration, allowing for individualized optimization tailored to each site. This enhances the efficiency of infrastructure management and inspection, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions. |
