OKI changes the game for BVB football club
With 55,000 season ticket holders, Ballsportverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund football club, known as BVB, likes to treat its VIP fans with up to date matchday information printed before and after each match. Traditionally, a lot of time and stress has been involved in printing these keepsake sheets for approximately 4,500 VIP fans with the look and feel of the club, including information that is only confirmed 60 minutes before the match. To reduce the time spent putting the printouts together from various individual layouts and documents the club began the search for a suitable printing solution that would standardise and unify individual production steps. The solution would also need to provide a high output which is cost-effective and would require a quick implementation to cause minimal disruption to the club’s VIP hospitality service. Following a detailed analysis of the club’s unique requirements, OKI implemented a custom solution using an open platform over a fleet of OKI devices located around the stadium to handle high print volumes in the shortest possible timescales. BVB’s previous printers could only print around 25 pages per minute. In contrast, the OKI fleet can print 52 pages per minute. Where it traditionally took the VIP hospitality team 45 minutes to start distributing the printouts to fans after the team sheet had been confirmed, it now takes only 20 minutes. Not only has the OKI solution fulfilled BVB’s unique requirements in removing time and hassle, it has increased the quality of the keepsake printouts and has also brought significant cost savings to the club.
“With OKI, we have found not only a product partner, but also a collaborative partner, which can provide expert support for all things printing. OKI quickly recognised our requirements and used their competence to develop a customised print concept”, says Till Oldemeyer, Head of IT at BVB
