Wedding stationery with a personal touch
Elle Bee Design was started by Laura Beaumont as a part-time hobby creating handcrafted greetings cards and relying on third party print suppliers to produce them. The business took off when Beaumont expanded into wedding stationery but the uplift in demand made it challenging to turnaround customer orders quickly, as well as meeting the growing demand for personalisation. The decision was made to bring printing in-house, a move that was facilitated by a single OKI Pro Series A3 CMYK printer. Affectionately nicknamed ‘Bertha’, the OKI printer allowed the business to significantly reduce the cost of printing compared to outsourcing. The device performs everyday office printing alongside greetings cards and wedding stationery and has slashed turnaround times from 10 months to just two days. The business soon introduced another OKI printer – a Pro9000 Series five colour digital production printer. This high impact device provides the flexibility to print in CMYK+White including high-density white-under single pass printing for truly unique results on any colour background. The OKI printers and their fast turnaround time helped Elle Bee Design pivot from ‘save the date’ cards to sharing revised wedding plans throughout the pandemic, as well as fulfilling customer orders on-demand.
