Achievements through Co-Creation with Clients in Solving Social Issues and Supporting Future Society

This article is a comprehensive report on OKI's Medium-Term Business Plan 2025 and global growth strategy. To address social issues, OKI is integrating zero-energy x AI with monozukuri and services, and aims to support future society with solutions achieved through co-creation with clients.

OKI is developing a next-generation energy harvesting power supply to expand the field of use for its Zero-Energy IoT Series. This article explains the improvements that are being made, including "large-capacity power generation and storage," "improved power generation efficiency," and "compatibility with various power generation sources."

OKI is currently developing the next-generation model of its Zero-Energy high-sensitivity camera that it has been producing since 2022. This article reports on the field experiments of the new Zero-Energy high-sensitivity camera and discusses the outlook for functional evolution in the next-generation model.

In a co-creation effort with a railway operator, OKI has developed an advanced fall detection system using 3D LiDAR to address and overcome the issues related to the installation of platform screen doors. In addition, OKI has achieved improvements in station staff operations. This article introduces the LiDAR sensing technology used to detect falls through gaps between trains and curved platforms.

There are high expectations that unmanned and labor-saving flow rate monitoring will contribute to the advancement of river monitoring. This article introduces a millimeter-wave radar technology that emits radio waves over a wide area of a river to obtain information such as current speed.

OKI integrates advanced technology with on-site capabilities in its co-creation efforts with local partners to solve social issues around the world, while promoting sustainable value creation through human resource development. OKI will continue to deepen its global strategy.

In an effort to globally deploy infrastructure monitoring solutions aimed at improving the safety and resilience of social infrastructures, OKI conducted experiments in Turkey and Indonesia using its Zero-Energy IoT Series. Practicality of the solutions under local installation and operating conditions, as well as the evaluation and acceptability of the solutions by infrastructure managers in the railway sector were confirmed. This article presents the details and results of the experiments conducted in both countries, and discusses issues and future outlook for deployment in the global market.

OKI Group factories are diverse in industry/scale, and the robots/specifications required for automated transport vary widely. A multi-vendor control system has been developed to reduce the development investment and time that each factory would require to individually implement AMRs, thereby achieving One Factory. This article presents the development background, technical overview, and implementation status of the developed RAT (Robot Arm Transporter) system. For future development, OKI is exploring and strengthening relationships with both domestic and international partners in an aim to globally expand (external sales) the RAT system.

In its technology strategy announced for FY2023, OKI has set "Technology Enhancement: Edge Devices" as a key initiative. As a result of this strategy, a base architecture that provides commonization, miniaturization, and power-saving has been developed. This article introduces the base architecture and plans for future business development.

OKI Circuit Technology Co., Ltd., which has a strong track record in advanced development/production technology for high-multilayer, high-density, large-scale printed circuit boards, has successfully developed a 124-layer PCB technology for equipment that performs wafer inspections of next-generation wideband memories such as HBMs mounted on AI semiconductors.
