Message from the President
Since developing Japan’s first telephone in 1881, OKI, guided by its enterprising spirit, has been a leading driver of technological innovation in fields that support everyday social infrastructure, such as communications, financial services, transportation, and disaster prevention. We are proud that this tradition continues today, as reflected in innovations such as the world’s first cash-recycling ATM and Japan’s first VoIP system.
Innovation does not happen automatically. It requires people who are willing to try new ideas and sometimes take risks. To make that happen continuously at the organizational level, OKI began developing its innovation management system (IMS), “Yume Pro,” in April 2018, with the goal of aligning with the international standard ISO 56002. In 2020, we launched company-wide innovation initiatives involving all employees, which we named “Full Participation Innovation”. In fiscal year 2021, we established a cross-organizational IMS framework, and in August 2023 we enacted company-wide regulations and began full-scale operation.
These efforts have not gone unnoticed. In September 2024, OKI became the first Japanese manufacturer to obtain the BSI Kitemark™ certification based on ISO 56002, and in July 2025 the first company in Japan to receive certification based on ISO 56001. These achievements not only reflect our commitment to innovation. They show how innovation is built into every aspect of our daily operations.
As part of the company-wide rollout of “Yume Pro” in line with ISO 56001, OKI has introduced a range of IMS initiatives, including leadership-driven cultural change, innovation training, practical support for new ideas, and the development of internal guidelines.
Through these efforts — and through our experience launching new businesses, reforming existing projects, improving operations, and promoting co-creation — we have built practical expertise in innovation methods such as design thinking. Today, we also share this expertise with clients through our IMS support services.
Looking ahead, OKI will continue using its IMS to create new value for customers while giving every employee the opportunity to contribute ideas and take on new challenges as a “Future Maker.” We will also continue exploring what “Next for Society” means and accelerate our efforts to realize it.
To support the execution of our new management plan, we have redefined the OKI Group’s shared corporate philosophy around four key elements.
Purpose: Shaping Next for Society
Vision: Becoming Future Makers:Powered by People and Technology
Value: Integrity and Beyond, Together
OKI Spirit: Lead the Way
Guided by this renewed corporate philosophy, OKI will continue driving innovation and creating value for society.
