Specifying a File Format

You can specify a file format of a scanned document.

If you do not specify a file name, the factory default setting name is applied.

  • PDF

    It presents documents in a manner independent of models and operating systems that are used.

    Selecting Multi creates a file with scanned multiple pages, and selecting Single creates a file by a single page.

  • HC-PDF

    It separately compresses text and background images and reduces a file size by using the PDF feature.

    Selecting Multi creates a file with scanned multiple pages, and selecting Single creates a file by a single page.

  • PDF/A

    It is based on PDF and intended for the long-term preservation of electronic documents. It creates a file with multiple pages.

  • TIFF

    It is an image data format.

    Selecting Multi creates a file with scanned multiple pages, and selecting Single creates a file by a single page.

  • JPEG

    It compresses and saves image data.

    It creates a file with a single page.

    Only color/grayscale is supported and it cannot be saved in black and white.

  • XPS

    It is intended for viewing text and presents documents in a manner independent of models and operating systems that are used. It creates a file with multiple pages.

  1. Press [Scan] or the (SCAN) button.

  2. Set a document in the ADF or on the document glass.

  3. Select a scan method.

    Specify a destination by following the procedure for the selected scan method.

  4. Press [File Format] on the [Image Settings] tab.

  5. Press a file format.

    The screen that appears when [Auto (color/Gray)] is selected is shown as an example.

  6. Press a file format.

    The available file formats vary depending on the selected color type.

  7. Change other settings if necessary, and then press the (START) button.
