OKI DATA promotes efforts to lengthen the life of components, reduce parts that go to waste, and create designs that simplify disassembly and reuse.
We achieved a recyclable ratio for products overall of 74% in fiscal 2006, and have reduced the number of materials used in order to make reuse and recycling easier. We have also promoted material labeling in line with ISO 11469 to further promote product recycling.
OKI DATA works to conserve resources in both hardware and software by making products more compact, improving various technologies for consumables, and further improving printer drivers.
OKI DATA’s proprietary digital LED technology reduces the amount of plastic used in our printers and makes them more compact. In addition, the duplex printing function of our color printers reduces paper usage and the toner saving function reduces toner consumption to make it possible to lessen the impact on the environment.
Moreover, OKI DATA’s page printers are designed to be able to separate the toner from the drum, which have different replacement schedules. This makes it possible to fully utilize the lifespan of each to reduce waste caused by throwing out drums that could still be used.
OKI DATA develops products in line with the International ENERGY STAR Program in order to conserve global resources and help prevent global warming.
OKI DATA’s page printers use LED technology, which generates ample light on very little power, and by using technologies like this that save energy, we are pursuing environmental protection.
Print speed is correlated with energy consumption. OKI DATA has developed a micro-capsule toner in order to limit energy consumed by printing, and it reduces energy consumption substantially compared to conventional toner.
OKI DATA’s printers also come with sleep mode for reducing energy consumption when the printers are not in operation, which conforms with the International ENERGY STAR Program and helps save energy.
