Egham, 1 June 2015 – Counterfeit OKI printer consumables with a market value of more than €250,000 in a raid in Turkey. Conducted in May, the OKI Europe-led sting followed months of intelligence-gathering and resulted in the confiscation of substantial quantities of fake finished goods and component parts for colour toners and ribbons.
The operation was carried out in conjunction with other printer manufacturers, all of which are members of the Imaging Consumables Coalition of Europe, Middle East and Africa (ICCE) group. As a result, counterfeit goods of seven members were successfully confiscated.
The raid is the second in Turkey led by OKI and follows last year’s successful seizure of a one-million-Euro haul of counterfeit OKI printer consumables. These enforcement actions demonstrate that OKI will not hesitate to pursue anyone responsible for counterfeiting its products.
Counterfeiting is an increasing problem around the world, affecting all industry sectors. Many counterfeit goods with convincing packaging are being sold to unaware customers often at the full recommended retail price. These fake goods are frequently of poor quality resulting in reduced print quality as well as having a detrimental impact on the performance and life of a printer.
To avoid inadvertently purchasing counterfeit products, OKI advises customers to buy Original OKI Consumables through an authorised OKI reseller.
