Following the outstanding customer and industry endorsement of its existing MC860 A3/A4 multi-function product (MFP), OKI has built on this success with the launch of a series of new models which respond to the differing needs of the increasingly important small business and workgroup markets.

The new MC851 has been designed for the budget-conscious business with a lower print volume who can now benefit from the flexibility of an MFP combined, with a highly-competitive entry price.

The MC861 with its faster print speeds, larger toner capacity and lower total cost of ownership, is perfect for the more demanding workgroups with a higher print volume.

It is no surprise that MFPs represent the fastest-growing segment of the printer market,” says OKI Europe product marketing manager, Paul Ingram, “as businesses looking to bring more print tasks in-house respond positively to the ability to print, scan, copy and fax documents cost-effectively in a single robust and consistent high-quality output device.

Our continuing success in this key sector has been based on listening and responding to our customers, who are looking for improved value and performance backed up by OKI’s unmatched reputation for reliability and colour quality. The MC860 created a new segment in providing A3 price/performance when required that could compete directly with existing A4 workgroup colour MFPs and our new MC851 and MC861 provide an even more competitive line-up.”

Customer endorsement

Research, undertaken by OKI, of purchasers of its earlier MC860 after three months of ownership, offers powerful endorsement of this customer-focused approach, as users have responded overwhelmingly positively to its strong feature set across all functions.
  • 91% of users across all sectors were satisfied or highly satisfied with the product’s overall performance
  • 100% of respondents used the MC860’s printer function, 81% for colour copying, 78% for scanning documents and 47% for incoming faxes
  • Users were especially impressed with individual aspects of the product’s functionality, including print and scanning speeds, colour output quality and copying and scanning quality
“It is often assumed that most businesses use an MFP principally as a printer and only use the other functions on an occasional basis,” says Ingram. “However, as our research makes clear, customers across a wide range of sectors use many of the functions on a regular basis and so it is essential that the MFP delivers a consistently high quality user experience, however it is used.”

Improved purchase/running costs

When asked what the most important requirements would be for their next colour MFP replacement device, customers’ most important requirements were lower initial purchase price and cost per copy.

As a result, the MC851 will appeal to those looking for a highly affordable offering, with the MC861 offering larger toner capacity in delivering low running costs.

The new MC800 Series will continue to appeal to small businesses typically looking to replace single function devices with a robust, proven MFP to meet all their document needs,” confirms Ingram. “Equally, they are ideally-designed for remote offices or branches with multi-functional requirements.

At the same time, in enabling organisations to bring more print tasks in-house, they provide the versatile media handling and output quality for specialist requirements such as A4 brochures, A3 schematics and planograms for example. And all this is underpinned by OKI’s unique three year warranty, which gives users confidence in the new products’ robustness and reliability.”
