Our Charity Work

Children

OKI is committed to corporate and social responsibility including contributing to developing communities. We strive to support organisations, education facilities and environmental programmes in order to have a more positive impact, improve sustainability and enrich the lives of people around the world.

OKI Europe’s Corporate Charity - Save the Children

Currently, OKI Europe is pleased to be supporting Save the Children's Education work which tackles issues such as access, discrimination and quality learning in countries around the world with the lowest literacy rates such as Rwanda, as well as countries such as Syria where education is affected by war.  An estimated 250 million children in school are not learning basic skills*, such as reading, maths and critical thinking, leading to high drop-out rates and less likelihood in completing secondary education.

The Power of Education

To date Save the Children’s Education project has helped 5.9 million children across the world.

Some of these programmes include:

  • Rwanda: Improving the nations’ literacy levels by increasing the number of quality children’s books, setting up reading clubs and supporting parents and teachers.
  • Emergencies: Ensuring that education is a fundamental part of our emergency responses.
  • EU Children of Peace: Helping over 16,000 children in conflict-affected countries go to school – many for the first time.
  • Syria: In war-torn Syria:  helping keep children safe by supporting them to get back into education.
  • Girls’ education: in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo, giving thousands of girls the support they need to stay in education.
  • Philippines: giving parents the knowledge, skills and resources they need to support their child’s early learning and development.

Recycling to Protect our Planet

In addition to donations, OKI Europe has set up initiatives such as the company’s consumables recycling programme which is widely supported by its customers. By returning a used consumable to OKI Europe, wasteful landfill is avoided and the item enters into our recycling programme. For every tonne of used consumables recycled, OKI Europe donates a sum of money to Save the Children as our way of saying 'thank you' and continuously encouraging organisations to recycle their toner cartridges whilst indirectly contributing to a worthy cause.
