At the opening ceremony

TOKYO, May 29, 2014 -- OKI (TOKYO: 6703) held a ceremony to mark the launch of its Brazilian ATM business company, OKI Brasil, on May 13, in San Paulo City, Brazil. The company started operations in January 2014.

Attending delegates included the Consul General Noriteru Fukushima from the Consulate General of Japan in San Paulo, the Secretary General Fujiyoshi Hirata of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil, OKI President Hideichi Kawasaki, and OKI Brasil President Yoshiyuki Nakano.

"I am delighted to be here in Brazil to mark the establishment by OKI, in partnership with Itautec, of the first manufacturing and sales site for OKI's automation business in Latin America," said President Kawasaki. "Drawing on the strengths of both Itautec and OKI, we plan to launch products that will meet the needs not just of our customers in Brazil, but in Latin America and in the global market."

"OKI's strengths include quality management technologies, industry-leading mechatronics technologies, and manufacturing technologies designed to achieve rapid turnaround and high quality," said OKI Brasil's President Nakano. "Drawing on these strengths, OKI Brasil will achieve world-class Made-in-Japan quality and cost performance to meet the expectations of its customers."

Seeking to expand its overseas business, OKI is currently strengthening ATM business activities to target the global market. In addition to the strong track record already established in China, OKI has recently ventured into Russia, Indonesia, and India. Moving forward, based on OKI Brasil's solid customer base and maintenance network, OKI will strive to develop its ATM business in Latin America and to capture the leading market share in the CD/ATM Brazilian market.
