ICCE: Promoting awareness of counterfeit consumables

Advice on how to spot the difference between original and counterfeit products


The imaging consumables industry is a significant contributor to the EU economy, generating approximately €41 billion and employing around 100,000 people. 


Alarmingly however, it is estimated that counterfeit products account for the sale of nearly 8% of revenues generated by imaging supplies sales in EMEA, increasing to around 50% in some Middle Eastern countries. 


This presents a very real threat to the profitability of the OEMs and the livelihoods of those employed by them.


Formed to provide an industry-wide response to tackle the growing threat of counterfeit consumables within the European imaging supplies industry, The Imaging Consumables Coalition of Europe, Middle East and Africa (ICCE) has produced an informative leaflet with advice on how to spot the difference between original and counterfeit products:

With as much as 5% of goods imported into the EU thought to be counterfeit and a reported value of imported fake goods worldwide of USD 461 billion*, now more than ever, consumers need to feel confident that they are buying genuine goods and understand the risks associated with buying counterfeit products.
