To handle the volumes of air traffic resulting from the increasing demand for air travel, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has proposed a new plan for Communications, Navigation and Surveillance and Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM), which is being introduced around the world. Its backbone will be the Aeronautical Telecommunication Network (ATN) that will seamlessly connect aircraft, air traffic control and airline operations facilities.
