Disaster relief activities
OKI Group provides assistance to various disaster victims
Driven by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that struck the Kobe area on January 17, 1995, OKI began improving its internal disaster prevention and disaster-relief system. OKI has prepared emergency items in the event of a disaster and provides training to employees. OKI has also established a system for providing emergency items stored at various business sites to disaster-stricken areas and for sending voluntary employees to such areas.
On-going Reconstruction Support for Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster-Affected Areas
The OKI Group has continued to provide assistance to the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011.
In the town of Shichigahama, Miyagi Prefecture, in cooperation with other companies, it dispatched a total of 78 employees as disaster recovery volunteers. These volunteers helped remove debris and clear mud immediately after the disaster.
The OKI Group also dispatched a total of 48 employees to participate in activities in the town of Watari, Miyagi Prefecture organized by the Global Compact Network Japan. Undertaken in partnership with the Watari Green Belt Project, a nonprofit whose goal is to revive the tide water control forest, the activities provide support for the restoration of the forest lost to the sea, surviving forest improvements, and growing and maintenance of saplings for planting.
Through the OKI 100 Yen Fund of Love program, OKI continues to support the activities of the Watari Green Belt Project.
