TOKYO, September 27, 2011 -- OKI Data Corporation, an OKI Group company specializing in the printer business, today announced that it has cancelled the emission credits and finished offsetting its FY2011 first half CO2 emissions under the Carbon Zero Emissions Facilities global carbon-offsetting initiative, which began on October 1, 2009.
During the period from October 2009 through March 2013, in addition to efforts to cut emissions, OKI Data is seeking to make progress with the Carbon Zero Emissions Facilities initiative. The initiative is intended to achieve zero CO2 emissions at major OKI Data manufacturing facilities. These activities are being carried out at the following three facilities: the Fukushima Plant, OKI Data Manufacturing (Thailand) and the printer section of OKI Electric Industry (Shenzhen) in China.
"We are delighted to have completed cancellation of the emission credits under our Carbon Zero Emissions Facilities initiatives," says Harushige Sugimoto, President of OKI Data. "OKI Data printers manufactured at these facilities have the ‘Manufactured at a Carbon Zero Facility’ sticker on them as a way to facilitate businesses to understand the importance of managing their carbon. We believe businesses must do their part in conserving the environment for better tomorrow. Moving forward, we will continue pursuing our carbon offsetting activities."
Through the activities outlined below, OKI Data has offset all 5,477 tons in CO2 emitted from the three manufacturing facilities during the first half of FY2011 (April 1, 2011 – September 30, 2011). All emission credits are cancelled through K.K. Satisfactory International in the Markit Environmental Registry.(*1) These records are available for inspection by third parties.
