OKI Provides its IP & Mobile Key Telephone System"IPstage® SX" to Maruyoshi Unyu Kikoh
Helps reduce time and traveling costs through software phone-based video conferencing system
TOKYO, July 29, 2008 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced it has delivered its "IPstage® SX" IP & mobile key telephone system and software phone video conferencing system to a Japanese transportation equipment company, Maruyoshi Unyu Kikoh Co., Ltd. The system proposal was done by Kita Daihyaku Tsushin Denki Co., Ltd., an IT and communications company based in Hokkaido, Japan.
Maruyoshi leases large equipment to construction sites and civil engineering contractors such as for transporting steel using large trailers. The company actively promotes eco-oriented business management and since July 2008 has been certified with a Green Management Certificate. This certification is given by the Foundation for Promoting Personal Mobility and Ecological Transportation to companies that operate business with low environmental load.
Prior to installing the IP key telephone system, Maruyoshi brought in employees from various sites to one location for meetings, which were sometimes held twice a month. However, with increasing travel cost and considering the loss of valuable time, the company was looking for a low-cost communication method that could reduce time and cost while increasing decision-making speed.
"We are pleased to offer Maruyoshi a solution that will enable them to conduct more efficient business by using OKI's IPstage SX with its variety of functions," said Masa Saito, General Manager of IP systems division at OKI. "Based on our strong track record in voice and communication technology, we provide a high-quality voice and video communication environment that makes it seem to users as if they are having a meeting face to face even when they are miles away. Building on this successful installation, OKI will continue to offer its IP telephony system using IPstage SX to companies pursuing efficiency for their business communication."
Maruyoshi installed OKI's "IPstage SX" at its headquarters, creating an IP telephony system that connects its four locations in Japan with OKI's "Com@WILL® Software Phone" that provides video conferencing functions. Each location connects with NTT East's IP-VPN service, "Flet's Group Access."
The notebook PC at each location is equipped with a software phone, which enables video conference of up to four locations simultaneously. The conference room at each location is displayed on the PC screen, and with a microphone on the table, multiple participants can attend the meeting from a single location. The software phone is equipped with OKI's high quality sound IP telephony technology "eSound™," which makes voices easier to hear, offering a real-feel meeting. In addition, the software phone includes an application-sharing function enabling users to show documents on their PC to others and to point out items using a mouse, thus helping to convey their message clearly and in detail.
