OKI Ships Samples of Small Video Decoder Compliant with World Standard Video Signals
Guarantees operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, enabling use for automotive system applications

ML86V7665
Tokyo, Japan, July 9, 2007 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced it has started shipment of samples of its video decoder LSI that are compliant with three of the worlds video signal standards, NTSC, PAL and SECAM(*1). The package size of the new ML86V7665 is reduced by 50% from conventional models, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C is guaranteed, enabling use in outdoor security systems(*2) and automotive camera systems(*3). OKI plans volume shipment from December, 2007.
"Responding to the market needs, the ML86V7665 is compliant with all the three world standards for video signals, enabling deployment to the worldwide image equipment market. We achieved to develop a video decoder LSI that can operate in a wider range of temperature extremes than standard consumer-use, while enabling smaller package size," said Masahiko Morioka, President of Silicon Solutions Company at Oki Electric Industry. "We plan to provide this LSI to focus particularly on security systems and automotive camera systems. We will also continue to enhance our product lineup for image processing LSI for video recorders as they become multi-channeled, and will expand our business in these markets."
The ML86V7665 is compliant with three pixel frequencies: ITU-R BT.601 standard (13.5MHz), NTSC square pixel (12.272727MHz) and PAL square pixel (14.75MHz). The package size is TQFP 48pin 7x7mm, 49mm², approximately half the size of the previous model ML86V7667 (TQFP 64pin 10x10mm 100mm²). Capable of operation over a wide range of temperatures, the LSI can be used not only for TV systems but also for security and automotive systems. By incorporating OKI's wealth of experience in automotive TV systems in this device, the ML86V7665 enables excellent synchronism stability, even when operated in bad signal environments such as with a weak electrical signal.
