OKI Launches Small-size ATMs for the Chinese Market

With the ATM21SX, OKI aims to sell 10,000 units by 2010 to the mid-and small-size branches for financial institutions

for the Chinese market

Tokyo, Japan, April 16, 2007 -- adding ATM21SX to OKI's ATM product lineup for China, after its full-specification ATM, "ATM21S," OKI can now respond to the needs of various levels of branches, from large-size branches to mid- and small-size branches that have limited installation space. Sales will start from the end of April 2007, and OKI expects to thus accelerate its ATM sales in China, targeting sales of 10,000 of its ATM21SXs by 2010.

"While banks are installing new ATMs and the number of convenience stores in China is expected to increase, demand for small-size ATMs that can effectively use limited space is also expected to increase," said Yoichi Kawashima, President of Systems Hardware Company at Oki Electric Industry. "Targeting this market for mid and small-size braches, we unveil the ATM21SX, combining the technology we have accumulated in making ATMs for Japanese convenience stores with the ATM21S technologies, an ATM for the Chinese market. We succeeded in reducing the installation space by 30% compared to our previous model, achieving a small-space ATM, which no other company has been able to provide thus far."

Like the ATM21S, the ATM21SX adopts the cash recycling method. This method enables the deposited cash to be reused as withdrawal cash, improving efficiency in cash operations in a compact chassis. By improving ATM reliability and enabling a long period of unattended operation with a cash capacity of 7,000 banknotes and 5,000 receipts, OKI succeeded in significantly reducing the operation cost.

ATM21SX is manufactured at OKI's production plant in China, Oki Electric Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (OSZ). Going forward, OSZ will develop new markets by providing consistent ATM service from design to manufacturing, sales, and through to maintenance. In addition, OKI also plans to provide this ATM not only in China, but also to new markets including Southeast Asia and the Pacific markets, with plans to expand into the European market.
