OKI Unveils "IP CONVERGENCE® Server SS9100 Release 7" with Enhanced IP Centrex Functions
Enhances equipment for small-size offices and mobile terminals
Tokyo, Japan, February 22, 2007 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today unveiled its "IP CONVERGENCE® SS9100 Release 7 (SS9100 R7)," the latest model of IP CONVERGENCE Server SS9100, OKI's IP telephony server with enhanced IP Centrex functions. It will initially be sold in the Japanese market.
With the increase in use of IP telephony systems, many companies with multiple branch offices have been replacing their PBX systems with IP telephony systems that include Private IP Centrex(*1) function. This helps to improve productivity, revamp work styles, and reduce costs for communication, maintenance, and facilities operation. OKI's new model, the SS9100 R7, enhances this IP Centrex function and adds equipment for small-size branch offices. By adding IP CONVERGENCE GATEWAY VS, a device that holds PSTN lines for small branch offices, users can reduce the equipment cost to hold PSTN lines. OKI also adds the "Survival BOX," a device to keep PBX service when system failures occur, which helps to keep service at a low cost.
"With these functions, companies that have small branch offices such as banks, insurance companies and travel agencies can easily build an IP Centrex system," said Masashi Tsuboi, President of IP Systems Company at Oki Electric Industry. "Using SS9100, OKI will continue to contribute to provide superior IP telephony solutions for business users who are looking to increase their competitive edge."
The SS9100R7 includes a "free address" function to enable users to use any IP multifunctional phone by simply logging in with a user ID. This offers users the convenience of using the phones at their offices in a different location even when they are on a business trip.
OKI also enhances the mobile Centrex function by adding NTT DoCoMo's FOMA® Wireless LAN Dual Network Handset N902iL to its mobile terminals. Users can also build a system with KDDI(au)'s Wireless LAN Dual Handset E02SA. OKI has also added adapters to its lineup that are compliant with "Hikari Denwa Business Type," the IP telephony service for business-use offered by NTT East and NTT West. It also improves usability by offering a conversation recording function and individualized ringing tones.
