OKI Establishes OKI Group Code of Conduct
Tokyo, Japan, September 3, 2007 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced that on August 30, 2007 the Board of Directors decided on establishing the OKI Group Code of Conduct. To continue to achieve corporate responsibility based on its corporate mission, OKI will deploy the Conduct thoroughly to its executives and employees as the norm for their conduct.
For the betterment of corporate value, the OKI Group seeks to provide satisfaction to its customers at all times and to become a trusted partner for our stakeholders, including shareholders and investors, employees, customers and suppliers, and the local societies of the areas in which it operates. With this understanding, and to maintain a high level of corporate responsibility, OKI established its "OKI Group Charter of Corporate Conduct" in October 2005 as a statement of values that should be shared among the Group. The company is actively taking actions to enhance its Group internal control by promoting risk management including affiliated companies, organize internal controls regarding financial reporting, etc.
"We realized that to achieve a high level of social responsibility, it is necessary to unify our Code of Conduct as a global company, based on the 'OKI Group Charter of Corporate Conduct' and share it with executives and employees throughout the Group," said Keiichi Fukumura, Senior Vice President at Oki Electric Industry, who oversees the CSR Promotion Division. "Going forward we plan to introduce this Code of Conduct at OKI Group companies in Japan and overseas through board meetings at each company, and to deploy it thoroughly to executives and employees throughout the OKI Group."
In January 2002, OKI established "OKI Code of Conduct" for the basis of conduct as a corporate and as an individual. Affiliated companies also introduced their Codes of Conduct based on this Code. In the "OKI Group Code of Conduct," OKI added new elements that are required for corporate social responsibility in global corporate activities. The terms used are universal based on the premises to be shared among group companies including overseas operations. In addition, the structure was organized to enable each individual to conduct and understand the affinity with "OKI Group Charter of Corporate Conduct," and has been prepared in both English and Chinese to enable unified deployment overseas.
