Oki Electric Launches New Key Telephone System Compliant with Next Generation Networks and Fixed Mobile Convergence
IPstage® MX and IPstage SX to be offered in Japan and overseas markets
Tokyo, Japan, October 12, 2006 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today released two new key telephone systems with full scale IP telephony and mobile functions. The new business phones, IPstage® MX and IPstage SX, which are best for offices under 100 people, will be offered in Japan, and will sequentially be offered in various overseas markets such as China and Oceania.
Oki introduced Japan's first IP-PBX, "IPstage EN192" back in 1999 and an IP telephony server "IP CONVERGENCE® Server SS9100" for large-scale offices in 2004. The following year, the company unveiled an IP-PBX for middle and small size offices, "IPstage EX300." As telecom carriers are building next generation networks (NGN), various telecommunication services, including Fixed Mobile Convergence and IP-based video delivery services, will be integrated over IP networks. In such an environment, demands for introduction of IP telephony products are increasing, not only in large offices but also in middle size offices.
"As the leader in the enterprise-use IP telephony market in Japan, we at Oki have integrated our experience, latest technologies and market knowledge demand in these two models which we are launching today," said Katsumasa Shinozuka, President and CEO of Oki Electric. "Because IPstage MX and IPstage SX maintain the functions and economic efficiency of former models, while including new technologies, we believe the key telephone systems can help enterprise users both to reduce costs and improve productivity."
The new IP and mobile function business phones are equipped with Oki’s voice and video technologies "eSound™" and "eVideo™" to provide advanced and high-quality service. IPstage MX can be used for offices with under 100 extensions and IPstage SX for offices with under 30 extensions. In addition to the function for IP multifunctional telephones, the two models also work as a mobile terminals in and out of the office, as they include wireless LAN dual network handsets, which until now have been included only in Oki's large-scale IP telephony systems. It is also the first business-use phone in Japan to be equipped with SIP compliant softphone, "Com@WILL ® Softphone," which enables users to utilize leading-edge functions including application collaboration and video conferencing (up to 4 participants).
Oki is also releasing a new multi key telephone to add to its product lineup. The "Multi Key Telephone R" is equipped with "My eSound™" that enables high-quality voice conversation of IP phones with other phones. The IPstage MX, IPstage SX and Multi Key Telephone R series products will be exhibited at OKI Info-telecom Solutions Fair 2006 to be held November 9 to 10 in Tokyo, Japan, and at the ITU Telecom World 2006 from December 4 to 8, to be held in Hong Kong.
