Oki Logistics establishes first overseas office in Thailand
Tokyo, Japan, April 5, 2006 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) and Oki Logistics Co., Ltd., an affiliated company in charge of the group's logistic activities, today announced that on March 30, 2006, Oki Logistics acquired 49% of Business Logistics (Thailand) Co., Ltd.'s stock, which was held by IBM Japan Business Logistics Co., Ltd. With this acquisition, Oki group holds 73% of Business Logistics (Thailand)'s shares; 49% being held by Oki Logistics and 24% being held by Oki Systems (Thailand) Ltd. Oki Logistics also holds the management rights of Business Logistics (Thailand).
"Acquiring the management rights of Business Logistics (Thailand) will enable us to establish and ensure a logistics basis in Thailand. This is a significant step for our global operation strategy," said Yasuaki Ozawa, President of Oki Logistics. "We believe Business Logistics (Thailand)'s experience will give us great influence over our business in Thailand, which leads to a more efficient supply chain management worldwide for the Oki group as well as for our valuable customers."
The Oki group positions Thailand as an important production base as it provides various printers and semiconductors to customers throughout the world. To respond to the increasing production capacity it has been recently experiencing, Oki Logistics needed to establish an optimum scheme to support global operations. Bringing Business Logistics (Thailand), known for their strong track record with IBM in Thailand, into the Oki group was the perfect solution. Business Logistics (Thailand) has been growing steadily as a logistics company, providing services and consultation, and designing and manufacturing packaging materials.

This new development will enable us to be more effective in conducting our business in the future," said Masanori Wada, President of Business Logistics (Thailand).
