Oki's Fully Automated Iris Recognition Camera, IRISPASS®-M, Exhibited at CeBIT2006
Tokyo, Japan, March 9, 2006 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced it is exhibiting its fully automated iris recognition camera, IRISPASS®-M at CeBIT2006 (www.cebit.de), to be held from March 9 to the 15 in Hannover, Germany. IRISPASS-M will be exhibited jointly with byometric systems AG, a systems integrator using Oki's iris recognition products, in their booth at Hall 7, D22/13C.
CeBIT, one of the largest information and telecommunication technology trade shows in the world, is held in Germany every March, targeting industry professionals and IT companies. For this year's CeBIT2006, the exhibition area for security products is expanded; all the security hardware and software products will be gathered into Halls 6 and 7. Oki Electric and byometric systems will exhibit the IRISPASS-M, the best recognition performance for access control system, at Hall 7.
"Access control systems with biometric technologies are in demand for places such as at airports, where high security is required. Our IRISPASS Series, launched in 1998, is evaluated highly by our customers for such security systems," said Norikazu Shimizu, President of Systems Hardware Company at Oki Electric. "Working together with byometric systems, a company with solid technical skills and an excellent track record of system integration using IRISPASS products, we believe we can meet a wide range of security needs with our IRISPASS-M."
IRISPASS-M maintains the fully automatic nature of the previous model while reducing recognition times in half, reducing the false rejection rate (FRR) and enhancing overall user experience by providing a more intuitive user interface with built-in voice guidance. Since the shipment of the product in December 2005, Oki has sold over 100 units.
