Oki Electric Enhances Functions for its Com@WILL® Series
Enables easier and smoother communication by connecting business applications with telecommunication equipment
Tokyo, Japan, January 25, 2006 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced it has enhanced Com@WILL® Series, a lineup of application software that connects business applications and communication equipment through Oki's IP telephony server, IP CONVERGENCE® Server SS9100. The company enhanced the functions of "Com@WILL Assistant," a communication tool that operates linked with web browsers, and "Com@WILL Softphone," the advanced software-based phone that operates with Windows PC. Sales of these products start today in the Japanese market.
"Many companies have been updating their information and telecommunications system by connecting business applications and phones and other telecommunication equipment, to increase their competitive edge," said Masashi Tsuboi, President of IP Systems Company at Oki Electric. "By enhancing the functions of our Com@WILL Series, we provide easier and better communication environment to our customers that is better and easier to use. This, in turn, helps them improve their business efficiency and productivity."
The Com@WILL Series is an application software tool for connecting business applications and communication equipment via SS9100, Oki's IP telephony server that integrates IP-PBX functions with business applications on an open environment, the Microsoft.NET. By linking with browsers such as Internet Explorer, Com@WILL Assistant enables smooth communication by providing communication functions for presence indicator and "click-and-call." Oki has now enabled Com@WILL Assistant to connect with and form contact lists by retrieving phone numbers and mail addresses from other business applications available in the market such as Lotus Notes and "desknet's," enabling easier linkage and communication.
With the Com@WILL Softphone, Oki can now connect the presence indicator function with schedule management software. By connecting with the schedule function in Microsoft Office Outlook, for example, and Com@WILL Softphone, the presence indicator can be automatically updated, showing accurate information at any time. To increase usage of softphones among overseas offices with softphones, Oki provides English and Chinese versions, in addition to the Japanese version.
Oki will continue to enhance the functions of its Com@WILL Series and thus contribute to improving the communication efficiency and productivity of its customers.
