Tokyo, Japan, July 1, 2005 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced the establishment of Oki Semiconductor Singapore's branch office in Bangalore, Karnataka to enhance its customer support and marketing activities for its semiconductor business. Starting operation today, this is Oki Group's first semiconductor business office to be established in India.
"While we have been enjoying semiconductor business in India for the past few years, we needed a structure to provide full support to our local customers as well as expand our marketing activities to increase sales. With this new office in Bangalore, known as the center of India's IT industry, we plan to increase our semiconductor sales for the Indian market by three fold in the fiscal year ending March 2008," said Akira Kamo, President of Silicon Solutions Company at Oki Electric.
Oki's semiconductor business sales have been expanding in the rapidly growing Indian market for its LSIs for network equipment, LCD driver LSIs, in-vehicle LSIs, and sound generator LSIs for mobile phone ringer tones. This new basis will identify the needs for potential customers and provide products that suit the Indian market.
