Oki Electric Enhances its Approach to Corporate Social Responsibility
Tokyo, Japan, September 30, 2004 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced the establishment of the CSR Promotion Division under corporate, effective October 1, 2004. This division is established to enhance its company-wide approach for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the Oki group. Oki plans to improve corporate value by establishing a trusting relationship with its stakeholders from an economic, environment and social activity standpoint.
Oki has been taking part in various CSR activities such as, providing safe and satisfying products and services, researching accessibility, engaging in environment conservation, enriching employee education by introducing e-learning, preparing a work-friendly environment, promoting compliance by establishing the Oki Code of Conduct, and establishing a special subsidiary for severely challenged teleworkers.
"In a time when globalization and information progresses in the economic society, demand for CSR is increasing among stakeholders," said Kazuo Tanaka, the Chief Compliance Officer and Executive Vice President at Oki Electric. "We have achieved many CSR activities, and this newly established CSR Promotion Division takes a step further to unify and promote all the group wide CSR activities, as CSR is regarded a high management priority for Oki."
By enhancing the relationship among internal divisions, the CSR Promotion Division will be in charge of policy-making and promotion for its company wide CSR activities. The division focuses on activities such as, 1. Provide information to shareholders and investors, 2. Improve Customer Satisfaction, 3. Respond to Environment, 4. Promote compliance, 5. Respect for employees, and 6. Social contribution.
Oki Electric will continue to conduct business activities as a corporate citizen and make efforts to strengthen the trust-based relationship and improve corporate value through communication with various stakeholders.
