[Features of SipAs on WebLogic]

1. High Performance
   Since conventional application servers had dedicated architecture, controlling SIP-based applications from general-purpose J2EE environment required creation of separate server systems. This could result in the issue of performance. The new product implements SIP application server on BEA WebLogic Server™, which is a high-transaction J2EE application server with superior track records. This enables Web and Telecommunications applications operate on the same server. Accordingly, it becomes possible to share the session information of HTTP and SIP, as well as to rapidly process the linkage between applications.
   
   
2. Scalability
   The product is based on BEA WebLogic Server. Further, its BEA WebLogic Server component can be extended into "BEA WebLogic Platform™" working as APS (Application Platform Suite) product, "BEA WebLogic Portal™" as EPI (Enterprise Platform Integration) product and "BEA WebLogic Integration™" as EAI/BPM product. It makes possible to directly leverage the strengths of these products to provide combination with SIP applications. For instance, it allows Telecommunications function to be added to the portal systems or business process flows.
   
   
3. Productivity
   In the past, developing an application combining IT and Telecommunications has required both IT and Telecommunications skills. Furthermore, the development could be advanced without clear distinction between the applications of IT and Telecommunications, which could result in the inconveniences in developing modules for large-scale systems. To solve such problems, the new product provides SipAs Convergence Engine in which HTTP and SIP are combined. It further provides a SipAs Workshop control with SipAs Convergence Engine and base components implemented as a control on BEA WebLogic Workshop™. This allows J2EE engineers, if not fully skilled in Telecommunications technology, to easily develop integrated IT Telecommunications applications.
