Oki Introduces "CTstage® 4i for .NET, " an IP-based Large Messaging System Capable of Implementing Tens of Thousands of Lines
- Offering Softswitch Architecture-based CTI & IP Communications System
for Carrier IP Network Systems, Enterprise IP-PBXs, and Large Contact Centers -
Tokyo, Japan, April 22, 2002 - Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. today introduced the CTI (computer telephony integration) & IP communications system, "CTstage® 4i for .NET," for the Japanese market. This application-based softswitch system enables carriers and enterprises to establish a large messaging system with around thousands to ten thousands lines. The product "CTstage server" is composed of hardware and software as a system, sales of which start on July 1, 2002.
"This is the first such messaging system solution in Japan and has become available by completely converging telecommunications and computer systems. It is far beyond a simple CTI server," said Masashi Tsuboi, President of the Multimedia Messaging Company at Oki Electric. "With the CTstage 4i system Oki enhances solutions that respond to growing demand from large carriers and enterprises, and maintains its position at the top of the CTI market in Japan."
The "CTstage 4i" supports Microsoft.NET for the operating system, SIP (session initiation protocol) for VoIP (voice over IP) protocol, and IPv6. This makes the system the most advanced CTI & IP communications system, offering high value-added network infrastructure with smooth works with the Internet. The system can integrate infrastructure such as PSTN (public switched telephone network) and the Internet, media such as voice, pictures and data, tools such as phones, IP phones, mobile phones, facsimiles and PDAs (personal digital assistants), and locations including private areas or mobiles.
The company intends to market the "CTstage 4i" for applications including large IP networks for carriers, enterprise IP-PBXs with more than 1000 terminals, and large contact centers with 300 seats by collaborating with more than 100 existing partner companies.
Major new characteristics provided by "CTstage 4i":
- The most advanced CTI & IP Communications system, supporting Microsoft.NET, SIP, and IPv6
The "CTstage 4i" supports Microsoft.NET, providing high reliability and scalability. As for the VoIP protocol, it adapts SIP, which excels in its expandability and smooth connection to the Internet.
- Realizes large messaging systems based upon softswitch architecture
The "CTstage 4i" adapts softswitch architecture and provides Class-5 level messaging server functions allowing a single server to support 300 seats for a contact center, or 1,000 terminals for an IP-PBX system. By combining several servers, it's possible to create a much larger system with many thousands or tens of thousands of lines.
- Supporting various phone terminals including softphones, PDAs, and IP phones
With a gateway function, the "CTstage 4i" integrates both IP network and traditional PSTN. In addition to legacy analog phone lines, it supports softphones including Microsoft® Windows® Messenger, PDAs, and IP phones as phone terminals. The CTstage reduces phone-line cabling costs and communication costs by using VoIP and wireless LAN, thus reducing TCO (total cost of ownership). With these features, the system enables users to have location-free, line-free, and peer-to-peer communications, and to improve the productivity of knowledge workers through a rich communications environment.
Endorsement from Microsoft Co., Ltd.:
"Microsoft aims to expand IP-based real-time communications with the 'Microsoft.NET' platform. The 'CTstage 4i' from Oki is the first CTI & IP system in Japan with 'Microsoft.NET' architecture. This represents the most advanced open solution, combining information systems and communications systems and tailored to respond to upcoming market needs in the IP communications area. Microsoft will continue to work together with Oki Electric to provide a variety of IP communications solutions to the market."
