Oki to Unveil Internet Voice Gateway Lineup at CeBIT2000

Versatile IP Telephony Products Targeting Small Businesses to ISPs

February 9, 2000, London -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. today unveiled its new IP telephony offerings, including the BV1250 and BV7000 Internet Voice Gateway and, the VoIP-TA Internet Telephony Adapter for voice and data communication over Internet-protocol (IP) networks. Sales will begin on April.
The company also announced that it will exhibit these products at stand # F58, Hall 15 and stand #A36, Hall 7 of CeBIT2000 in Hanover, Germany from February 24 to March 1.

Oki Electric develops IP telephony products that converge information and telecom systems and offer flexibility, integration and cost effectiveness. The company launched its first Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) product in Japan in February 1997, which was followed by the BS1200 Internet Voice Gateway series of products for the worldwide market. In the years since, Oki has sold thousands of units worldwide, including 260 units for a single network in one instance.
The newly announced BV1250, BV7000 and VoIP-TA join Oki's existing BS1200 series of Internet Voice Gateway products.

"VoIP has become a fixture in the telecom and information industries. As more companies adopt VoIP solutions, it is important that we offer a wide range of products to support network diversification," said Toshitsune Okubo, divisional general manager of Oki's Network Marketing Center. "We provide a variety of VoIP solutions that offer effective solutions for reducing total cost of ownership without sacrificing clarity, reliability or convenience."

Oki's Internet Voice Gateway series of products, which come in an all-inclusive one-box design, realize savings in long-distance interoffice telecom costs by transporting voice traffic over existing data networks. They work with existing telephone infrastructure, including telephones, facsimiles, key telephone systems and PBXs, without requiring extra software or complicated integration. By creating a single conduit for voice, fax and data with maximum capacity, they also eliminate the cost and inconvenience of maintaining separate equipment.

Oki's automatic delay recovery control, with proprietary technology for automatically optimizing the voice buffer, provides seamless, natural voice communication. Moreover, it automatically selects either the ITU-T Rec. G.729a or G.723.1 compressor/decompressor (codec) according to the other party's codec.
