eSound Venture Unit
Introduction

Shinji Usuba
General Manager
The eSound Venture Unit was established in November 2006 as an inhouse venture providing new communication by pursuing "sound" over IP networks. The preceding form is based on the technological assets unique to OKI cultivated in the development of early VoIP products since 1995 by members including Usuba and Aoyagi.
Under the concept of "Establishing social platform that promotes richer consumption activities and economic activities with communication of 'voice' that exceeds real voice," devices and systems using rich voice communication for the realization of a ubiquitous society will be continuously provided utilizing new IP network infrastructures such as NGN/IMS.
Profile of Usuba General Manager
From 1995, he involves himself in the development of IP telephone related products. More than 10 models have been released to date.
His years in development work come to an end when he decides to take on new challenges after participating in an inhouse entrepreneur training program.
In the spring of 2004, he launches the "eSound™ Project" along with Aoyagi who holds the same passion for voice to pursue the value of high voice quality communication in IP networks. In fall of 2006, the much anticipated "eSound Venture Unit" is created as a business unit after clearing the approval of the inhouse investment committee. "The Dawn Before IP Telephony", the story on the development of VoIP from February 2004 to November 2006 can be found in IT Pro of Nikkei BP.
