Supporting the Operation of a Symposium on "Ethics & Social Responsibility Research"

The Portugal office of OKI Data Group supported Symposium on "Ethics & Social Responsibility Researchh" held in Lisbon in April 2011 as a printing partner. Organized by the ISCTE- Lisbon University Institute and CIS(*1), the two-day symposium featured presentations of latest studies on ethics and social responsibilities in organizational decision-making processes, and practical discussions by participants from around the world. OKI supported the operation of the symposium by printing posters, brochures, lunch tickets and other materials.

Reforestation Programs for Environmental Conservation in Thailand

The OKI Group's production sites in Thailand have involved in reforestation programs for environmental conservation for many years. In June 2009, 200 employees of OKI Precision (Thailand), located in Northern Thailand, planted 500 teak (a nationally-protected tree) seedlings in a common forest in Lamphun as a forest specially designated for forest projects. When fully grown, these seedlings will add a green zone of 3,200 square meters to the area.

OKI Electric Industry (Shenzhen), a manufacturer of ATMs and printers in China, carried out a tree-planting project in Zhongshan Park, Sehnzhen for the first time in March 2011.

Since its inception in 2001, the company has been active in environmental conservation activities from both business and social contribution aspects. Such activities include the establishment of an environmental management system and voluntary cleanups around its production site. The purposes of the company's first tree-planting project, in which 45 employees planted peach seedlings, were to help preserve the scenery of the park, make a contribution to the local community, and raise the environmental consciousness of its employees.

The OKI System Center (Warabi, Saitama) holds the OKI Warabi Culture Festival in November every year. During the festival, the facilities of the center are opened to local citizens and families of employees. During the 2011 festival, 3,000 visitors enjoyed a concert of a jazz band whose members were employees of the OKI Group, a flea market, a presentations focusing on the prevention of crimes and disasters (given in cooperation with the local police and fire department), and a demonstration of a guide dog in collaboration with the Japan Guide Dog Association, a recipient of the OKI 100 Yen Fund of Love. The 2011 festival also featured a special fair of products made in three prefectures (Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima) in Tohoku as part of the group's reconstruction assistance for the areas afflicted by The Great East Japan Earthquake.
